Assam cabinet minister Jayanta Malla Baruah on October 2, took a potshot at the opposition parties and claimed that those who are in love with Bangladeshis cannot feel or understand the love for the motherland.
While responding to the media, the Assam minister said that the criticism of Congress and other political parties with regards to the 'Amrit Kalash Yatra', Baruah said, "People who dont have love for the country , those who lack devotion towards the country, they are the ones who criticise such things. Today, a small amount of soil from the homes of every citizen of the country will contribute to the construction of 'Amrit Vatika'. Each and every household of Assam is contributing soil for the construction of Kanaklata University, what else can be a better example of nationalism. People who have no sense of nationalism, but have empathy towards Bangladeshis, how can they understand this. One , who is in love with Bangladeshi Miya cannot understand nationalism. If Congress goes blind in love with Bangladeshis in this manner, it will only bring destruction to Assam's future. This is why people of assam love BJP and it's alliance."
"People who are in love with Bangladeshi Miya cannot understand the love for the nation...if the Congress party or any other regional parties are going blind for Bangladeshi Miyas then they are destroying Assam's future," the minister added.
