Assam: Police detain protesters in Tinsukia during mass sit-in protest against CAA

The Tinsukia unit of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti on February 29 organised a mass sit-in protest against the government's move to implement Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The organisation has been vocal against the goverment's decision regarding CAA. The agitation saw members of KMSS along with the local people coming out in huge numbers to participate in the sit-in protest held at Thana intersection in Tinsukia town.

Soon, the police started moving the protesters away from the protest site as they shouted slogans and demanded the government to stop the implementation of CAA in the state. The protesters said that in the coming days, several people will step out of their homes and fight against the CAA.

Several protesters were detained and taken away by the police from the protest site.
