Assam: Police in Golakganj nab four persons, seize 15 cows from three vehicles

Police in Assam's Golakganj seized a total of 15 cows from three vehicles in which they were being smuggled. Four persons involved in cow smuggling racket were also nabbed by the police.

Based on specific intel, the police were on the lookout for vehicles that were smuggling cows in the area. As per police, three speeding vehicles were coming in from West Bengal side. When the three vehicles did not stop at the police checking and sped away on the National Highway No 17, police gave them hot pursuit.

After a chase, the occupants of the cars finally had to leave the cars at various points and flee. Police however continued to pursue the occupants and finally managed to catch four persons. But what was shocking was that from the three vehicles, a total of fifteen cows were rescued.

The cows had been crammed into the vehicles in rather unhuman manner and police finally got them out in which they were finally able to breath.

The four nabbed persons are handlers or passers for cow smugglers in the area who transport smuggled cattle for the main smuggling ring from one point to another. Noteworthy is that out of the three vehicles, two were without any number plate.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ekramul Haq, Rashidul Haq, Abul Mutaleb and Samiul Rahman.
