A police team led by Kapil Chandra Das, officer-in-charge of Dhubri College Nagar police station, conducted a raid on the basis of a tip-off and nabbed two fake-currency smugglers.
During a raid carried out near the Phulbari bridge in Dhubri, the police arrested two fake currency smugglers along with fake notes worth Rs 99,000 notes of Rs 500 denomination.
The accused has been identified as Hazrat Ali and Golap Ali.
At present, the Dhubri police are learnt to have brought the two fraudsters to the Dhubri police station and are being interrogated.

Earlier in October, fake currency notes of over 3 lakh rupees were seized during a raid in a train at Assam's Bongaigaon.
Acting on a tip-off, the railway police conducted a raid at the Kanchenjunga Express which had arrived at the New Bongaigaon Express. Fake currency notes of Rs 37 lakh 17 thousand were seized from one of the bogies of the train.
One person identified as Sadiq Raza has been nabbed along with the fake currency notes. Raza in the meantime has confessed to bringing in the fake currency notes from Guwahati.
