A prisoner convicted under the POCSO Act has escaped from Kokrajhar District Jail. The escaped inmate, identified as Hazrat Ali, is a resident of No. 1 Daukhanagar in Chirang district.
The jailbreak occurred on March 16, when Hazrat Ali exploited a security loophole during a cleaning operation inside the jail colony and managed to flee.
Hazrat Ali was serving a life sentence under the POCSO Act, making his escape a matter of grave concern.
Following the incident, reports confirm that Kokrajhar District Jail Superintendent Rabiram Intik has been suspended, as authorities launch an investigation into the security breach and efforts to recapture the fugitive are underway.
