Assam: Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council CEM urges for impartial and transparent investigation into Junmoni Rabha’s death

Chief Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Tankeshwar Rabha reacted to the untimely and suspicious death of sub-inspector Junmani Rabha of Morikolong police station in Nagaon district.

Reacting to the incident, chief executive member Tankeshwar Rabha urged Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to direct the investigating agency to lead an impartial and transparent investigation into the incident with no influential force to mislead the investigation.

“Junmoni Rabha, a very popular cop of Assam Police died in an unfortunate accident. The circumstances under which Junmoni Rabha met with an accident and the mangled remains of the car driven by Junmoni adding with the post mortem report of Junmoni which is in my hands indicating bleeding from the head and broken spine, also the list of complaints filed by Junmoni Rabha’s mother against police officials with regard to Junmoni’s death, also the witness into the incident Pranab Das’s comments and his body language, along with the string of raids conducted by Nagaon police on the night of Junmoni Rabha’s death, all indicate a suspicious angle into her death. Assam Government’s decision to transfer the case to CBI is well appreciated but I would like to also urge the investigating agency for a fair and transparent investigation without the interference of any influential force,” said Tankeshwar Rabha.

On the other hand, Rabha also thanked the Chief Minister for taking the decision to hand over the responsibility of the entire investigation to the CBI instead of the CID in the interest of making the people of Assam happy. He also expressed deep sorrow over the death of late Junmani Rabha and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
