A bamboo bridge was destroyed by continuous rainfall at the Faushkar-Kuti area which is beyond the barbwire of the Indo-Bangladesh border fence in Dhubri district on June 17.
Following the incident, the classes of Bhogdanga-Faushkar-kuti Border Primary School were halted and Executive Magistrate, Masi Topno of Dhubri District, also visited the school to inquire even if the classes are suspended.
''I came here to enquire about the situation. We have decided to ask the contractor to construct the bridge on time so that people don't have to face many problems,'' Topno said.
As per reports, it has been alleged that the contractor, who built the wooden bridge, which was a communication link between the villages of Bhogdanga and Faushkar-kuti, was working slowly and using wood of very poor quality due to which the project was delayed for about six months.
It has also been discovered that the public is currently using the partially completed wooden bridge as a very risky means of transportation by erecting bamboo barriers.
The natives utilized bamboo husks in addition to the unfinished wooden bridge to keep communication between Bhogdanga and Faushkar-Kuti.
Bhogdanga and Faushkar-kuti village is covered by 684 Bighas, which is a bottleneck part of India holding a population of 642. Both the villages are surrounded by Bangladesh's village, Choto Khamar in the East Balabari in the West, and Shiparhat in the South of Kurigram district outside the India-Bangladesh international border fencing.
