Residents of Borholla in Titabor, Assam protested against ONGC on May 3 demanding excess to safe drinking water and stop all drilling activities in the area, leading to water pollution.
A group of angry residents of Borholla Shildubi took out a protest rally demanding clean water supply while slamming ONGC for carrying out drilling activities and setting up huge pipes to extract oil which in turn is polluting the nearby drinking water sources.
The angry residents have alleged that due to the drilling, the water sources including agricultural land, tube-wells, ponds are getting polluted in Borholla Shildubi village.
The villagers have decried reports of rising health issues due to the consumption of this dirty water. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, ONGC has shown a blind eye to their issues.
The protesters have demanded action against the drilling activity and to continue with their protest until they are not assured of clean drinking water
