A school headmaster in Karimganj has been accused of collecting fees from Below Poverty Line (BPL) students.
As per sources, Siraj Uddin, the headmaster of Erligul Public High School in Karimganj, has been accused of collecting Rs 1,250 from each of the BPL student while education is stated to be free for the students.
Surprisingly, when the chairman of the school's managing committee questioned the headmaster about the incident, the headmaster replied that fees will be waved for the students who have shared or tagged their photos of planting trees. But the students who fail to share or tag photos including BPL students will have to pay the fees.
There has been an uproar in the area following the headmaster without following any official order, demanded money from the BPL students. In such a scenario it will be interesting to see what action the district administration and the education department will take against this headmaster.
