In a shocking incident, a dilapidated bamboo bridge collapsed in Assam's Dhemaji on October 26, injuring several school students who were crossing the river via the bridge.
According to sources, the incident took place in Chahbari under Dhemaji district when a group of school students were attempting to cross the bridge to reach their school.
Sound of students screaming, yelling out for help alerted locals who rushed to the spot to rescue the students.
A total of 20 students were injured injured among which the condition of 5 is stated to be serious.
All the injured students have been referred to Dhemaji Civil Hospital for immediate medical attention.
