A severe storm hit Assam’s Bongaigaon district on May 16 leaving a trail of destruction. Several houses were damaged, with trees uprooted and power lines snapped after a storm ravaged Bidyapur, Boitamari and Dhantola area in Bongaigaon district.
Apart from rooftops being blown off, trees collapsed and fell on vehicles in Dhantola area. Although no reports of casualties or injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, several routes remain blocked due to the storm that hit the region. Locals are currently engaged in clearing the routes to avoid traffic.
It needs mention here, the weather bureau warned of severe storm accompanied with heavy rainfall in the northeast region due to Cyclone Mocha.
As per reports, at least 81 persons have been reported dead and more than 100 missing in Myanmar after Cyclone Mocha hit the coastal nation on May 15.
