Assam: Shocking case of acid attack on minor girl in Barpeta district, culprit apprehended

A shocking case of acid attack has surfaced from Assam's Barpeta district. The victim of this ghastly acid attack is a 17 year old minor girl hailing from Kayakuchi in Sarukhetri constituency. 

The incident reportedly took place on November 19 when the victim and her sister were returning from a local book fair. The attacker has been identified as Rafijul Islam, and is reportedly a jilted lover of the victim. 

The victim, soon after the acid attack, was rushed to the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College & Hospital in Barpeta by the locals. However, she was soon referred to the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital where she is currently admitted and is currently stated to be in a serious condition. 

"I want the authorities to give us justice. I know the attacker. His name is Rafijul Islam. I have lodged at FIR with the police. She is currently at the GMCH in Guwahati," said the victim's father.

An FIR was lodged immediately after the incident and Rafijul Islam was picked up by the police from his house at Bhinga village and placed under arrest. Police also found burn marks on the accused's body from the acid attack incident and admitted him to the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Hospital for treatment. 

Meanwhile, the police is continuing with the investigation into the matter.
