Incessant rain has once again wreaked havoc at the Lower Subansiri hydropower project in the Gerukamukh area of Assam’s Dhemaji.
A large part of the hill is seen tumbling one by one near the main dam causing a landslide.
Earlier this month (October), it has been found that the hill on the left bank has become hollow, causing the landslide to be uprooted.
According to the sources, the water level in Subansiri has gone down a bit, but landslides occurred at the same place.
Earlier on September 26, the ongoing construction of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHP), on the Assam-Arunachal border, work at the dam has been halted after the powerhouse submerged
The guard walls of the Subansiri dam, constructed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) at Gerukamukh on the Assam-Arunachal border, collapsed on September 26 following heavy rains in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh over the last few days, the powerhouse submerged under water.
