Assam: Sivasagar gears up to celebrate Maha Shivratri, singer Anuradha Paduwal to add special glory

A five-day programme will be held at Sivasagar to celebrate the Sri Sri Maha Shivaratri Puja and Mela from February 17 to February 21.  

The programme often been held in connection with the Maha Shivaratri in the historic Shiv Dol and its premises since the Ahom period.

It is worth noting that nearly 600 stalls have been set up so far and Indian playback singer and Padma Dr Anuradha Paudwal will join the cultural programme of the closing ceremony on the 21st.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the opening ceremony on February 17, the first day of the Sri Sri Mahashivratri Puja and Mela, which is being hosted by the Sivasagar Dol Development Parishad.

At around 6.45 p.m. in the temporary pandal at Dolmukh Chariali, the Saranga Cultural Group of Dhitaipukhuri will perform "Hirankshyar Mukshan, Shukracharyar Darpa Haran" following the publication of the book Sivasagar Borpukhuri aru Tinita Dol by the Sivasagar Dol Development Parishad.

On the evening of February 18, Anamuddin Ahmed will publish a souvenir titled Panchanan. A devotional singing performance by singers Mayuri Dutta and folk performer Khagen Gogoi will come after this. 

Popular vocalist Bastab Nath will perform a devotional cultural event on February 19 as well. 

Another devotional cultural performance will include Shiv Vandana, Shiva dance, a women's troupe's dihanam, and devotional songs by well-known vocalist Dhanti Das on February 20 in the evening.
