Assam: Student goes missing while taking bathe in Gaurang river in Kokrajhar

In a tragic incident, a college student of Central Institute of Technology, named Dwipjyoti Basumatary has gone missing after he went bathing in Gaurang river in Kokrajhar, Assam.

The student along with his classmates when to take a bathe in the river in the evening hours. Dwipjyoti Basumatary is from Maligaon railway colony in Guwahati.

The SDRF has been carrying out rescue operations since its arrival. BTR chief Pramod Boro arrived at the spot to enquire about it. He said awareness would be made to ensure that such incidents do not recur and a danger zone poster would be put up along the Gaurang river. 

Local MLA Lawrence Islari also reached the spot to take stock of the incident, expressed grief and urged institutions to review their institutions rules and regulations so that such incidents do not repeat in the future.
