Assam: Swarm of flies causes unrest in Bongaigaon, residents plead for government intervention

In an unusual situation in Assam, the residents of Bamunitila village in Bongaigaon district are grappling with an overwhelming fly infestation. Unlike typical protests, the villagers are rallying against a plague of flies that has disrupted their lives for over a month.

The relentless swarm has caused sleepless nights and widespread distress among the villagers. "For the past one-and-a-half months, flies have been creating havoc in the region, snatching away our sleep. The flies have been torturing us. Children are unable to sleep or eat, nor are we able to keep any food items freely. So disturbing it is that starting from children studying to sleeping, nothing can be done. People here have become helpless due to the flies troubling us," one resident explained to the media.

In a community of more than a hundred families, every corner of their homes is infested, causing significant concern about potential health risks. Fearful of impending diseases, a group of villagers has staged a protest, urging the Bongaigaon district administration to take immediate action against the fly menace.
