In a significant development, 1800 girls from Assam have been selected to work in semiconductor processing, as part of an initiative by the Tata Group.
These girls have now reached Bangalore and are undergoing training for their new roles.
This initiative marks a crucial step in promoting gender diversity in the tech industry.
Taking to his X handle, Assam CM wrote, "In collaboration with the Tata Group, 1800 girls across Assam were recruited to work in semiconductor processing. Many of them have reached Bangalore for their training & shared with me a wonderful video of their journey. Wishing them all the best!."

Earlier in 2023, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Tata Group is planning to set up a semiconductor processing plant in Assam at an investment of about Rs 40,000 crore.
Addressing a function in Guwahati, he said it has approached the Centre for the final nod after discussions with the state government, and the go-ahead is expected soon.
"There is a very good news for us. Tata Electronics Ltd has submitted an application for setting up an electronic centre at Jagiroad," Sarma said. "They have submitted a proposal to the Government of India with an outlay of about Rs 40,000 crore," he added.
