Assam: Tiger attack in Nagaon district leaves 2 critically injured, authorities on high alert

A tiger has unleashed terror in Jengani village, located in the Juria region under Nagaon district, Assam where two individuals were attacked while working in a paddy field on July 2.

The victims, Abdul Aziz and Akhtar Ali, have sustained critical injuries and were immediately transported to Nagaon for advanced medical care.

The incident, suspected to involve a tiger that strayed from the nearby Laokhowa and Burhachapori Wildlife Sanctuary, has raised concerns among local residents. The community speculates that the tiger might have ventured out of the sanctuary in search of food, a situation potentially exacerbated by recent floods in the area.

The authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with concerted efforts underway to ensure the safety of the villagers and to prevent further wildlife encounters. The ongoing flood-related challenges in the region have added to the complexity of managing human-wildlife conflicts.

The local administration and wildlife officials are coordinating to track the tiger and mitigate any further threats. Enhanced patrolling and safety measures are being implemented to protect residents and manage the displaced wildlife amid the flood crisis.
