The Assam Pradesh Trinamool Congress (TMC) has raised strong objections regarding the recent RHAC elections, alleging irregularities in the electoral process. The party has approached the court challenging the Election Commission’s decision to classify its candidates as independents.
TMC had filed a legal petition on April 26, questioning the legitimacy of the decision. The party addressed the media following the Gauhati High Court's verdict on March 28, 2025. Senior leader Dulu Ahmed expressed concerns about the election process, particularly regarding the postal ballots cast before the official ballot papers included the party symbol and name for the April 2 election.
Ahmed further alleged that vote counting in the four contested constituencies—North Bongao, South Bongao, Bamunigaon, and Bandapara Parishad—could not be conducted fairly under the current circumstances. The party strongly criticized the election process and insisted on a fair review of the electoral procedures.
The press conference was led by TMC’s Senior Vice-President Dulu Ahmed and was attended by district president Lawanya Boro. The party has demanded a thorough investigation into the election process, insisting that the RHAC elections were not conducted transparently or fairly.
