Assam: Two women dragged out of dhaba, beaten up by mob in Barpeta in the name of moral policing

In a sensational case of moral policing, two young women were harassed and beaten by a group of people on April 23 in Assam's Barpeta road.

The women were dragged out of a dhaba on the National Highway 31 in Barpeta where the women were accused of carrying out immoral acts inside the dhaba.

Sources claim that the group of people dragged the women out of the dhaba, verbally abused them, and even beat them for engaging in immoral activities inside the eatery. The crowd then broke into the dhaba and ransacked the place.

The men even beat up a customer in the dhaba.

Nonetheless, the two young women were saved from the clutches of the angry mob due to the prompt action of some alert people watching the entire episode.

The girls were taken over by the Barpeta police.
In the meantime, people are awaiting police's response to those who have violated the law.
