Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarkia on November 21 asserted that if the opposition party, Congress, wins from the Diphu and Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, the former will refrain from contesting elections.
This comes after Congress president Bhupen Borah allegedly said the party is confident of winning from the Diphu and Kokrajhar LS seats.
Addressing the media, Hazarika said, "If they (Congress) win from Diphu and Kokrajhar then in the coming election I would not contest an election."

Further, the minister claimed that Congress will be shattered in the LS election.
Speaking on the INDI alliance, Hazarika said that this will continue in Assam for the next two months, after which it will be nowhere.
"The day the ticket announcement will be made the alliance will be over...Congress won't give tickets to anyone and they themselves will not win the LS election," he added.
