Assam: Women organisations in Dima Hasao demand Manipur CM's resignation over violence against women

Several women organisations staged a protest rally in Assam’s Dima Hasao against the inhuman atrocities on women in Manipur that has been burning due to the ethnic clashes that erupted in the state on May 3, 2023.

Today, a protest rally was taken out from the field of Haflong Nagar Samiti with the joint initiative of various women's organisations of Dima Hasao district. The protesting women dressed in black shouted slogans against the Manipur government and demanded stringent punishment to the rapists. 

The streets of entire Haflong city was hit by slogans demanding the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh. 
At the initiative of various women's organisations in the hill district, the protest march took place in front of the office of the Haflong District Collector. The protesters even sent a memorandum to the President and Prime Minister of India through Dima Hasao District Commissioner Seemanta Kumar Das.

Meanwhile, the women protesters strongly condemned and condemned the gang rape of two Kuki women in Manipur on May 4 and who were also paraded naked by the mob.

The protesters have expressed shock over the incident claiming that the horrific case have brought shame to the entire civilised society. 

The women protesters said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about women's dignity. But women are not safe in India. A shining example of this is Manipur. The women protesters even claimed that the minority tribal women are not safe in Manipur.
