Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing a public gathering on December 8 under the Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY), emphasized the state's strides in agriculture and innovative initiatives to enhance farmers' livelihoods. CMSGUY, a flagship scheme, focuses on doubling farmers' income and fostering rural development.
The Chief Minister highlighted the active involvement of youth in farming across regions like Bonmaza, Athiaboi, and Molong. “Our youth are diligently pursuing agriculture, setting examples that can be replicated in every village. The government stands ready to support all positive initiatives in this regard,” he said.
In a noteworthy announcement, CM Sarma discussed advancements in milk production, particularly through the use of sex-sorted semen technology. This scientific method ensures that cows give birth predominantly to female calves, promoting higher milk production. “Our veterinary department has already facilitated the injection of sex-sorted semen in 6 lakh cows across Assam. Those planning to purchase cows can coordinate with the department to avail this service,” he stated.
The initiative, aimed at increasing milk yield and improving the economic potential of dairy farming, reflects the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology for agricultural and rural prosperity.
