Badruddin Ajmal distances party from MLA Aminul Islam's controversial remarks on Pahalgam attack

AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has distanced his party from the controversial comments made by party MLA Aminul Islam of Dhing, who was arrested earlier today over his remarks linking the Pahalgam terror attack to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In a statement, Ajmal expressed his disapproval, stating, "I have been informed that AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam has been arrested over his remarks on the Pahalgam attack. I have heard what he said, and it is unfortunate."

Ajmal made it clear that the remarks were the personal views of Islam and did not reflect the party’s stance. "We stand with our state government, as terrorists are terrorists without any caste or religion," he affirmed.

The AIUDF chief also reiterated that the party had already issued a statement regarding the Pahalgam attack, condemning the violence, and the statement had been published in national dailies.

Islam's arrest follows strong reactions to his comments during a campaign rally, where he alleged that both the Pulwama and Pahalgam attacks were linked to the central government, raising concerns about the involvement of political leaders. The Assam Chief Minister had earlier hinted at action against Islam for his remarks, calling for accountability for anyone supporting anti-national elements.
