Bhutan Police to receive training in Assam’s Lachit Barphukan Police Academy

Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika announced that Bhutan Police will undergo training at the prestigious Lachit Barphukan Police Academy. 

The minister highlighted this as a moment of great pride, further solidifying Assam’s role in strengthening security forces across borders.

“It is a matter of great pride for us as recently new recruits of the Manipur Police were trained at Lachit Barphukan Police Academy. Now, Goa Police is also getting trained here, and I have come to know that even Bhutan Police will also come to the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy for training,” Hazarika stated while interacting with the media.

Hazarika further emphasized that the academy has grown into one of the finest police training institutions in India, setting high standards in law enforcement training.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam, beginning his tour on March 14 in Jorhat. A key highlight of his visit will be the inauguration of the upgraded Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, a major step toward enhancing Assam’s law enforcement infrastructure.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that during his visit, Shah would also review the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita with the Chief Ministers of Northeastern states in Guwahati on March 16. 

The Home Minister will also travel to Mizoram on March 15 before returning to Assam for further engagements, including attending the final session of the 57th Annual Conference of the ABSU in Kokrajhar on March 16.

With Bhutan Police set to be trained at Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Assam is emerging as a pivotal center for police training excellence, contributing to the security preparedness of not just Indian states but also neighbouring nations.
