BJP leader murder case: Accused had illicit relationship with victim, says Assam CID

Hours after a manhunt launched to trace the accused behind Assam BJP leader Jonali Nath’s murder, Goalpara Police on June 12 arrested the accused Hasanur Islam who later confessed to his crime and said that he was in an illicit relationship with the victim, Jonali Nath for the past two years.

Addressing a press conference with regards to the sensational murder of the BJP leader, Guwahati, DIG Assam CID Debraj Upadhyaya said, The accused has admitted that on Sunday night, he killed the woman and dumped her body on the National Highway. The accused had an illicit relationship with the victim for the past two years and was about to get hitched to another lady. The victim had indicated her willingness to meet with him once to discuss this and their relationship. As a result, he paid her a visit and they got together in a car. After a heated argument, the accused brutally beat her on the neck before grabbing her with his bare hands and strangling her to death. The forensic physicians have confirmed the same.”

Subsequent to seeing that she was bleeding and fell unconscious, the accused dumped her near the highway, the CID official informed.

It has come to the fore that prior to committing the crime, the accused had reached the official accountable for the provincial police headquarters and informed him that he wanted to lady to stay away from the lady.

In the mean time, it is discovered that main accused Hasanur Islam was engaged with the homicide case notwithstanding, the CID is as yet proceeding with their examination.

Recently, Hasanur Islam who claims a fabric shop in Matia Bazar region in Goalpara locale was captured regarding the situation.

It very well might be noticed that the body of the BJP pioneer, recognized as Jonali Nath, was recovered from National Highway No 17 close to Shalpara, Krishnai.

Sources informed that unidentified miscreants had murdered and discarded her body on the national highway before fleeing the spot. The body was spotted by locals on Sunday night following which they informed authorities.

Several injury marks were found on her body, indicating that she was savagely assaulted before her demise. Reportedly, Nath was last seen on Sunday afternoon by locals at a market.
