BJP set to sweep all 28 seats in North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council Elections, claims CEM Debolal Gorlosa

North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) or the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council is all set to go to polls on January 8, 2024. Incumbent Chief Executive Member of the Council Debolal Gorlosa on December 14 claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to win all 28 constituencies in the upcoming elections. Gorlosa also highlighted BJP's commitment to peace, development, and its seven years of governance in the region.

Gorlosa, who has been a key player in the political landscape of the Dima Hasao district, assured the public that the BJP's agenda remains focused on overall district development and continued efforts towards establishing lasting peace. The elections for the 28 constituencies are scheduled for January 8, with vote counting set for January 12.

Speaking confidently about the party's future, Gorlosa stated, "Under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BJP will continue its work for the welfare of the people in North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council."

Highlighting the party's priorities, Gorlosa disclosed that the BJP's election manifesto would be released in the next two days. When questioned about the key issues for this election, he emphasized that the party would focus on peace, development, road construction, education, health, tourism, and agricultural progress.

Responding to queries regarding candidate selection, Gorlosa stated that while there might be multiple claims for candidature, the party would democratically decide on the most deserving candidate. He stated that public support and a history of working among the people would be crucial factors in candidate selection.

Finance Minister Ajanta Neog chairing the BJP's election committee in Dima Hasao district, is actively engaged in consultations with top party leadership and student unions. Gorlosa revealed that the final decision on candidates would be made in accordance with the party's directives and the Chief Minister's orders.

Addressing rumors about Niranjan Hojai's potential candidacy for the chief executive member position, Gorlosa dismissed the speculations, noting that all political leaders aspire for leadership roles, but the party would make the ultimate decision. He urged all political parties to engage in peaceful election campaigns and encouraged voters to make informed choices.
