Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has raised strong objections against the BJP's actions, particularly criticizing the party's lack of response to the mistreatment of female MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in the Lok Sabha.
Gaurav Gogoi pointed out that while there is televised footage of BJP male MPs intimidating Congress women, no action has been taken, and no FIRs have been filed. Gogoi accused the BJP of using these incidents to divert attention from the controversial remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which he described as "disparaging and insulting" to the Indian Constitution and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Constitution's principal architect.
Gogoi further criticized Prime Minister Modi for his silence regarding Shah’s comments, noting that while Modi often engages in symbolic gestures like bowing to the Constitution, he remains quiet when his own minister insults Dr. Ambedkar. Gogoi reminded the public that the RSS had historically rejected the Indian Constitution and only pretended to respect it, a sentiment now reflected in the BJP's actions. He also mentioned that earlier this year, there were attempts to amend the Constitution if the BJP secured more than 400 seats, and after recent electoral victories, their true intentions were becoming clearer.
Gogoi emphasized that Amit Shah’s refusal to apologize for his remarks shows a continued disregard for the Constitution and for the millions who follow Dr. Ambedkar's ideals. He accused the BJP of using their political strength to further their own agenda, undermining the principles on which India was founded.
