A formal complaint has been filed against three candidates contesting the upcoming panchayat elections under the Birshing Anchalik Panchayat in Dhubri district, alleging serious violations, including child marriage and submission of forged documents.
According to reports, residents and local advocates have raised concerns about the eligibility of the candidates, accusing two of them of being involved in child marriage and a third of submitting a fake matriculation certificate while filing nomination papers.
The candidates in question, Mohammad Rajab Ali, husband of Jahanara Khatun (a candidate from Ward No. 10, Mahrirchar Gaon Panchayat No. 32), and Dilwara Khatun (a candidate from Ward No. 9, Chalakura Gosaidubi Gaon Panchayat No. 30), are alleged to have been involved in child marriage.

Additionally, Johiran Nessa (a candidate from Ward No. 3, Boyezeralga Gaon Panchayat) had submitted a fake matriculation certificate as part of her nomination. The people of the affected panchayats have expressed their outrage, with several residents filing formal complaints with the election officer in charge of the panchayat elections and bringing the issue to the attention of the District Deputy Commissioner.
The nomination documents filed by Johiran Nessa, who allegedly submitted a phoney matriculation certificate from the school to support her candidacy, are in direct opposition to the headmaster's certification. The accusations of document fraud that have already infuriated locals and legal experts are strengthened by this discovery.
As the allegations are being investigated, political observers and local residents are demanding stricter scrutiny of nomination documents to prevent such incidents from undermining the fairness of the electoral process. Authorities have yet to issue an official response, but calls for accountability continue to grow.
