Bir Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha expressed deep apprehensions regarding the state of unity within the opposition parties in Assam's electoral landscape.
Chaliha highlighted the significance of regional parties coming together over traditional party lines, suggesting that unity among local factions holds more importance than the typical Congress-BJP rivalry.
While acknowledging the necessity for a strong candidate to challenge the ruling BJP, Chaliha questioned the authenticity of the so-called united opposition. He coined the term "Chiprang opposition" to signify suspicion and discord within the opposition ranks.
Chaliha accused certain members within the opposition of attempting to undermine Gaurav Gogoi, a prominent opposition figure. He suggested that this internal strife could ultimately jeopardize Gogoi's chances of success in the elections.
Expressing disappointment, Chaliha lamented the absence of a cohesive strategy among opposition leaders. He criticized the tendency for individual leaders to hold separate press conferences instead of presenting a united front against the ruling party.
Chaliha highlighted a practical issue, noting the absence of an election office in Sivasagar. This oversight further contributed to his disillusionment with the state of opposition readiness for the upcoming elections.
In a striking accusation, Chaliha raised suspicions about certain opposition leaders potentially collaborating with Assam Chief Miniser Himanta Biswa Sarma. He insinuated that these leaders might be working clandestinely to undermine Gaurav Gogoi's candidacy.
His concerns shed light on the internal divisions and perceived lack of coordination within opposition circles, raising questions about their ability to mount an effective electoral campaign.
