Gaurav Gogoi faces 'go back' chants while campaigning for Rakibul Hussain's son

In the Samaguri Legislative Assembly Constituency, Congress Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi campaigned for Tanzil Hussain, the son of MP Rakibul Hussain.

The campaign event, however, encountered some resistance.

During the campaign, a section of villagers expressed their dissatisfaction by chanting 'Go Back' at Gogoi. The incident highlights the mixed reactions politicians often face during election campaigns.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi joined forces with Tanzil Hussain to lead a rally in Samaguri, gearing up for the upcoming by-elections. The rally highlights Tanzil, son of Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain, as he sets his sights on potentially becoming the youngest MLA in Assam if he secures victory in the November 13 polls.

Earlier on October 20, The Indian National Congress (INC) announced its candidates for the by-elections in five constituencies across Assam. Notably, Tanzil Hussain will contest from Samaguri, a seat previously held by his father. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rakibul Hussain triumphed with an impressive margin of 10,12,476 votes.

The assembly by-elections will take place in Dholai (SC), Sidli (ST), Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri, all of which became vacant following the Lok Sabha elections. Alongside Hussain, the party has nominated Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha for Dholai, Sanjib Warle for Sidli, and Brajenjit Sinha for Bongaigaon.
