Guwahati: Iron plates fall from top of under-construction flyover in Maligaon, 2 severely injured

In a shocking incident, the iron shuttering of the Maligaon bridge in Guwahati collapsed, posing a grave threat to the citizens on the road beneath. 

As per reports, two persons were injured in the incident and one is in critical condition. The incident took place in front of Pragjyotish Cinema Hall.

As per initial inputs, two labours identified as Jitu Das and Nayan Das have been identified as the victims. Meanwhile, Jitu Das is currently on a ventilator.

The incident has ignited a debate about the state of development projects and the negligence surrounding them.

Recently, a video recently surfaced, capturing sparks from welding activities falling directly onto passing vehicles, raising serious questions about the absence of proper safety protocols.

Gauravv Somani, a Congress leader, took to Twitter to express his outrage and disbelief at the lack of safety protocols in place. His tweet read, "Can anyone justify such construction work without any safety protocol being followed? Had any vehicle carrying inflammable substance or plastic/cotton or a two-wheeler been passing, it could have been highly dangerous. Guwahati is now at the mercy of fate!"
