Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing tourism in the state, addressing a key challenge of limited hotel accommodation. During a recent statement, Sarma highlighted that while Assam boasts numerous beautiful destinations, the lack of adequate hotel infrastructure has hindered tourism growth.
“To capitalize on our state’s tourism potential, we are introducing a scheme to establish home stays in Assam,” Sarma said. “In smaller areas where large hotels are not feasible due to space and infrastructure constraints, home stays present a viable alternative. This approach will allow tourists to experience the local culture and hospitality in more intimate settings.”
The Chief Minister said that home stays could provide a more personalized and authentic experience for visitors, while also supporting local communities. The state government is set to implement new schemes to facilitate and regulate the establishment of these home stays across various regions.
