Himanta Biswa Sarma expresses condolences as Avinash Sarkar's body identified at GMCH

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, deeply saddened by the news, has expressed his condolences after the family of Avinash Sarkar confirmed the identification of his body at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) this morning. Avinash lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Bamunimaidam last Friday.

Posting on the microblogging site X, CM Sarma stated, "Deeply pained! 🙏 With a heavy heart, we have learnt that the child's body has been found. My deepest condolences go out to his parents and family during this unimaginable time." He also extended heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated personnel of NDRF, SDRF, Police, and District Administration for their relentless efforts in the search and rescue operations.

Earlier, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had visited the Sarkar family on Saturday to express solidarity and oversee the search operations. He had reassured the family of the government's commitment to finding Avinash, despite the challenging circumstances posed by the floods.
