Himanta Biswa Sarma: Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge to be completed by July 2025

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the construction of the much-anticipated Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge is on track and expected to be completed by July 2025. 

Once operational, the bridge will be toll-free for all vehicles except trucks and commercial buses.

The Chief Minister shared updates after inspecting the construction site on the South Bank. "Work on the upcoming Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge is progressing well, and we plan to dedicate it to the people after July 2025," he said.

The bridge is set to enhance connectivity between the two banks of the Brahmaputra, easing traffic congestion and providing a significant boost to regional development.

By making it free for private vehicles, the government aims to ensure affordability and accessibility for daily commuters.

The project is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and connectivity across Assam, which is expected to have a transformative impact on local economies and enhance the ease of movement for residents.
