Himanta Biswa Sarma links Bangladesh, Pakistan Hindu struggles to 1947 fundamentalist plot

On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reminded that fundamentalists conspired to divide and destroy the country in 1947, leading the then state leaders to surrender to them.

Addressing the public, the Assam chief minister also stated that Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan struggled for a united India and are still in trouble due to the mistakes committed by the fundamentalists.

He said, "In the freedom struggle, everybody fought for a united India and for India's indepdendence, however Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan also struggled for a united India."

Furthermore, CM Himanta claimed that Hindus in India became Bangladeshi Hindus and Pakistani Hindus overnight after people in charge of the state during that time surrendered to the fundamentalists.

Expressing concern over the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh amid the ongoing unrest in the violence-hit country, he said, "As we celebrate August 15 with joy and enthusiasm under the Tiranga flag of independence, I also express my concern for the safety of the Hindus in Bangladesh". He further exalted his trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, adding that his governance "will provide security to the Hindu people in Bangladesh."

"I extend my condolences to Hindus who have lost their lives in Bangladesh," CM Himanta further stated.

Moreover, the Assam chief minister also lauded the efforts of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Assam Police for ensuring that no infiltrators enter the territory of the state through the Indo-Bangladesh border.

"On this day, I thank and congratulate BSF and Assam Police for securing the borders of India, especially the Assam borders during the disaster in Bangladesh to ensure no Bangladeshis entered the territory," he said.

CM Himanta also ensured that the state will remain free of Bangladeshis, asserting that the same "is a constitutional duty".  He urged  PM Modi to take developmental measures to ensure the safety of Hindus in the neighbouring country.
