Karnataka election 2023: Assam Congress leader Debabrata Saikia claims BJP failed to lure common people

Reacting to the thumping majority in the much anticipated Karnataka polls 2023, Assam Leader of Opposition, Debabrata Saikia, said that this time people did not fall into the trap of the saffron party's gimmicks.
 

Speaking to the media, Debabrata Saikia said, "I would like to thank my reaction to our Congress party's landslide victory in the Karnataka Assembly elections and for the unprecedented support shown to the people of Karnataka towards our Congress party. I have also come to know that the BJP party spend around 18-20 crore each day in the last 2-3 months."
 

"They (BJP) also tried to gift/distribute sarees among others to the people of Karnataka, however, did not accept it and dumped it outside the BJP leader's doorsteps," he added.

The Congress leader also asserted that in previous years along Karnataka election has been playing an important factor in a party's existence and the way the BJP tried to use the religion card was not taken well by the people of Karnataka.
 

"BJP said that Hindus are in danger... controversy on the 4 per cent reservation on minority or even students wearing their religious attires, but people of Karnataka are well calculative to take the right decision," he added.
 

Speaking on the horse-trading, the Congress leader opined that it has come to him that a BJP leader said that the game will start now, however, is confident of Congress's victory.
 

Congress has crossed the halfway mark as per the latest trends of the Election Commission of India. 
 

The Congress Party now has 135 of the 224 seats, while the BJP holds 63. In 22 seats, the Janata Dal (Secular) leads. As of 02:00 pm.
