"My son is not a Khalistani supporter": Amritpal Singh's mother defends son over allegations

Balwinder Kaur, mother of Amritpal Singh, the chief of 'Waris Punjab De' and independent MP from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, firmly stated that her son is not a Khalistani supporter.

She questioned, "Does speaking about Punjab and working to save the youth of Punjab make him a Khalistani supporter? He contested the election within the ambit of the Constitution and now he should not be labeled as such. He has taken an oath on the Constitution of India."

Having contested independently in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Singh secured a decisive victory over Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira, capturing the parliamentary seat with a commanding margin of 1,97,120 votes.

Singh, who was incarcerated as a radical Sikh preacher and held in Dibrugarh jail, was transferred to Delhi for his parliamentary swearing-in ceremony.
