Need more than 400 seats to strengthen ED and CBI: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma exuded confidence on BJP's mega win in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing reporters during a press conference in Jharkhand, Sarma underscored the imperative of securing over 400 seats for several crucial objectives. He emphasized the constitutional obligation to integrate the entirety of Jammu and Kashmir into India. Asserting ownership over the region, Sarma stressed the necessity of obtaining a significant parliamentary majority to fulfill this constitutional duty effectively.

Additionally, Sarma highlighted the BJP's commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code across the nation, which mandates uniform laws for all citizens irrespective of their religious affiliations. Achieving this ambitious goal, he asserted, necessitates surpassing the threshold of 400 seats in the Lok Sabha.

Moreover, Sarma outlined aspirations for India's economic prowess, aiming to surpass the economies of both the United States and China by 2047. Such lofty ambitions, he argued, demand a robust parliamentary mandate exceeding 400 seats to implement requisite policies and reforms effectively.

Furthermore, Sarma emphasized the importance of strengthening institutions such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Acknowledging their pivotal roles in upholding law and order and combating corruption, he advocated for a bolstered parliamentary majority to empower these agencies effectively.

Looking ahead, Sarma expressed optimism regarding the BJP's electoral prospects in Jharkhand, predicting a substantial victory and the formation of a "double engine government" in the state. This vision entails BJP governance at both the central and state levels, promising coordinated efforts to drive development and prosperity in Jharkhand.
