Opposition leaders meet Lok Sabha Speaker to discuss Constitution debate

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla convened a meeting with all Floor Leaders in his chamber this afternoon to discuss key issues in Parliament. 

The meeting was attended by prominent leaders, including Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu from TDP, Gaurav Gogoi from Congress, T.R. Baalu from DMK, Supriya Sule from NCP, Dharmendra Yadav from SP, Dileshwar Kamait from JD(U), Abhay Kushwaha from RJD, Kalyan Banerjee from TMC, Arvind Sawant from Shiv Sena (UBT), and K. Radhakrishnan from CPI(M).

Following the meeting, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi addressed the media, stating that from the outset, the opposition has been calling for a discussion on the Constitution of India to mark its 75th anniversary. 

Gogoi added that the government has unofficially informed them that such a discussion will take place soon, with official dates for the discussion to be announced shortly.
