A heated situation unfolded at Assam's Ruphihat as supporters from both BJP and Congress clashed on October 15.
As per sources, the confrontation erupted after Congress workers accused BJP supporters of verbally abusing them.
The altercation quickly escalated, with one agitated BJP worker allegedly resorting to vandalism, breaking a car window and causing damage to property. In the ensuing chaos, several supporters from both parties sustained injuries as the situation spiraled out of control.
Witnesses reported a tense standoff, with scuffles breaking out between rival party supporters, fueling concerns about the potential for further unrest as election activities intensify in the region. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and additional security forces have been deployed to prevent any further escalation. Investigations into the root causes of the clash and individual acts of violence are currently underway.
Local political leaders have called for peace, urging their supporters to exercise restraint and adhere to democratic principles amid the ongoing election campaign.
