Theft temple in Assam: Thieves caught on CCTV camera, 4 arrested

In a significant operation, Gossaigaon Police have arrested four notorious thieves during a raid at Bilasipara in Dhubri district. 

The raid, conducted by Kokrajhar Additional Superintendent of Police Crime, Fakiragram Police Team, Cyber Team, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hiren Kumar Deka, took place 16 days after a burglary at the Maa Mahamaya temple in Gossaigaon. 

The burglary occurred on the night of May 26, with thieves looting goods worth more than Rs 10 lakh, including crowns and ornaments of the temple deity. 

The police have arrested five persons, including four thieves and one buyer, and have recovered the stolen items. 

The arrested individuals are identified as Mandal Ali, Sariuddin Ali, Mughal Hussain, Hazrat Ali, and Ashraf Ali, all from Bilasipara. 

Further interrogation is currently underway.
