Thousands storm police station in Assam's Duliajan after alleged attack on youth

What should have been a day of celebration turned tense in Duliajan, Assam as the Naholia Police Station witnessed a chaotic turn of events on the first day of Bohag Bihu. The situation escalated following a late-night dispute over a vehicle transporting cattle, which reportedly led to the alleged assault of an innocent individual.

In the aftermath, angry members of the local Adivasi community gathered in large numbers at the police station premises.

According to sources, thousands of people assembled in protest, accusing the police of mishandling the situation and unjustly targeting individuals.

The tension reached its peak as a physical altercation reportedly broke out between two opposing groups within the police station itself, turning the premises into a battleground.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the police struggled to bring the situation under control amidst the crowd’s mounting anger.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, but the local administration is reportedly working to restore calm and investigate the allegations.
