On January 25, 2024, amidst the ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,' Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a momentary pause from the political march to visit a local tea shop in Halakura village, located in the Dhubri district of Assam.
This halt was not just a break in their journey but also a chance for the party leaders to engage with the locals and savour a cup of tea.
The yatra, which has been marked by various incidents including clashes with the police and an FIR against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly inciting violence, continued its course through Assam with the aim of entering West Bengal shortly thereafter.
The tea stall owner expressed surprise and pleasure at hosting the Congress MP, highlighting the unexpected nature of such high-profile visits to small local businesses.

"Rahul Gandhi's visit to my tea stall comes as a surprise. It is good to have him here," says the tea stall owner in Halakura village, in Assam's Dhubri.
Despite the challenges faced, including the Assam government's denial of permission to use prime routes and the looming threat of arrest post-Lok Sabha elections as stated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Congress party remains steadfast in its resolve to carry on with the 'Nyay Yatra.'
This brief interlude at the tea shop in Dhubri district reflects the yatra's grassroots approach, attempting to connect with people from all walks of life while navigating the complex political landscape of the region.
