Wild Elephants cause panic in Villages along the Indo-Bhutan Border

A group of elephants entered the Santipur Khagribari area of the Bhutan border, causing panic among the villagers on January 2.

The sudden appearance of the wild elephants triggered fear among the locals. Responding to the situation, the forest department personnel and policemen arrived on the scene to prevent any harm to the elephants.

The escalating wild elephant menace in the forest areas along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang district has been attributed to the increasing settlement in these regions.

These wild elephants are known to originate from the Ripu Chirang forest and Manah sanctuary.
