Wish Assam to be known globally for its development not agitations: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 4 announced the launching of several infrastructural developmental projects in Guwahati in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a two-day visit to the state to lay down the base for several projects worth Rs 11,600 crore. 

Hailing PM Modi for his leadership in pushing the state of Assam towards a new horizon of development, CM Sarma said, "For the past three years there have been no protests or agitations. Several pro-scribed militant organisations and outfits have laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Thanks to PM Modi under whose guidance and leadership the state is witnessing growth in all sectors".

Showing optimism of bringing the state on the global map, the chief minister of Assam said that PM Modi will be laying down the foundation stone for several key projects that will give a major boost to the state's overall infrastructural development. It is for the first time that the state will witness the launch of several projects worth Rs 11,600 crore in a single day, making it a historic moment for the people of Assam. 

Be it 23 medical colleges, elevated corridor in Kaziranga, upgradation of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, Cancer Hospitals, several key roads and bridges, providing 1 lakh jobs, free rice for the lower income group people etc, these infra projects will be a major boost to the state's every growing landscape. 

PM Modi reached Guwahati last evening and was welcomed with a a resounding welcome at the State Guest House, Koinadhara. The day began with the Prime Minister's early touchdown at Guwahati's Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, where he was greeted with enthusiasm by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and other distinguished guests.

The airport premises came alive with the beats of traditional dance, showcasing the vibrant cultural tapestry of Assam. Notably, PM Modi's early arrival, initially scheduled for 7:30 pm, did not dampen the spirits of the large crowd that had gathered to extend their heartfelt greetings.

Adding to the festivities, thousands congregated in Khanapara in the evening to illuminate an awe-inspiring display of 1,00,000 diyas. This joyous celebration, marked by splendid visuals, encapsulated the spirit of #PMModiInAssam.
