Imphal (Manipur), Aug 27, 2018:

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced that all banks operating in the State would be ranked soon on the basis of services provided by them to needy people. The ranking would determine the amount of money to be shared by the State government, he added.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of newly-renovated building of Imphal Branch of Manipur State Co-operative Bank Ltd (MSCB) at Old Assembly Road here on Sunday, the Chief Minister remarked there was no point in depositing money to those banks that were not willing to serve the needy people.

He said a circular would be issued to ask the banks to submit details of the services provided to the public soon.

Lauding MSCB Ltd for helping different sections of the society, Singh said it was really encouraging to know that the bank had so far provided loan of around Rs 9 crore to different individuals and organisations who approached it seeking financial support on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day.
