Meghalaya: Seng Kut Snem Celebrated with Gaiety to Commemorate Seng Khasi Movement

Shillong, November 23, 2019:

The state of Meghalaya today celebrated its annual festival Seng Kut Snem with much gaiety. Over thousands gathered in the streets of Shillong to commemorate the Seng Khasi Movement.

The 120th Seng Kut Snem festival began with a colorful procession, showcasing the diverse and rich Khasi tradition. Folk music and tableaux presenting the various facets of the indigenous lifestyles of the tribes were the major attraction of the fest.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wished his people through his social media handle and tweeted, “The annual Seng Kut Snem festival celebrates the Seng Khasi Movement and the efforts of the Seng Khasi Kmie to preserve, protect and uphold indigenous Khasi faith and culture. On its120th Foundation Day, I extend my warm greetings and convey my wishes to the citizens of Meghalaya”
