Imphal, April 16, 2019:

A cyclone caused mayhem in Manipur on Monday as three women were killed and over 40

(including 30 children) were injured, Government sources have informed.

Two of the women were killed in Churachandpur district of Manipur after a house collapsed. The third woman who was killed ran a tea-shop in Kakching and was killed when a banyan tree fell on top of her.

As per reports, a school collapsed in Kwakta located in Bishnupur district which injured 30 children.

Heavy rain and storms lashed several parts of North-Eastern India and Manipur was affected the most as the recent spate of bad weather continues in this part of the world.

Meanwhile, cyclone also continues to wreak havoc in another North-Eastern state Meghalaya as several villages in the state were crippled and many houses and schools were damaged.

The weather forecasts continue to be grim as thunderstorms have been forecast in isolated spots in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on Tuesday.
