GUWAHATI: TikTok, the short video-making application may soon make its comeback in India as its parent company ByteDance has filed a trademark application for TickTock with Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks earlier this month.
Tipster Mukul Sharma took to Twitter and shared the development.
"So yes, TickTock might very well be coming to India. ByteDance has filed the trademark for the same in the country. Feel free to retweet," Sharma tweeted.
According to Sharma's post, the trademark application for TikTok was filed on July 16.
"Provision of software applications through a website; hosting on-line web facilities for others for sharing on-line content; hosting platforms on the Internet; computer programming; computer software design; electronic data storage; software as a service (saas) services; cloud computing; hosting a website for the electronic storage of digital photographs and videos; hosting digital content on the Internet; hosting multimedia entertainment content; hosting of multimedia and interactive applications; web site hosting services; business card design" the Goods and Services Description of TickTock reads.
However,there is no official word from the company as of yet

ByteDance has been in talks with the authorities about bringing TikTok back to the country, reports suggest.
Moreover, the Chinese corporation also assured it would comply with the new IT requirements.
TikTok was one of the first among the 59 Chinese applications to be banned in India by the union government last year due to national security concerns.
